NOTE: Why do you need to replace Lifters when replacing the camshaft?
When replacing the camshaft, it’s important to replace the lifters because they wear together with the camshaft over time, forming a specific wear pattern. If you install a new camshaft with old lifters, the new camshaft’s profile may not match the worn lifters, causing improper contact, increased friction, or premature wear. This can lead to engine performance issues or even camshaft and lifter damage. Replacing both ensures proper function and longevity.

Everything has gone well so far. Bought a 6.2, used this cam as part of a DOD delete kit I pieced together. Then pulled my 5.3 and swapped the choppy 6.2 in it’s place along with a HD 6.2 6l80 torque converter + new filter. Took a couple hours of tuning to get me to the dyno tuner, told him “I want to have a good time, but I haul stuff sometimes and its a daily.” Now I have a 2012 4×4 Tahoe that puts 390 to the rear wheels. I pulled a 95 mustang on a full deck car trailer and had plenty of power to spare for “passing”. I’m a happy customer. Almost feels like its not nearly 6k lbs.
Overall:
This cam is awesome.
Buy good lifters, head bolts/gaskets.
Get a tuner.
Have a good time.
So far easy to install and works as stated. But it is very time consuming so be ready for an all day job. But do tune up once the kit is installed. Great buy for the money.
Took a small gamble on this aftermarket camshaft, and it seems to have paid off. So far my engine has been going strong for 6k miles. The previous camshaft had a couple worn lobes and an issue with the timing position sensor. If I ever need a different camshaft, I’ll get from this brand again. If I ever need to replace the one I just put in, I’ll probably look elsewhere lol
Great way to get rid of those dod lifters and make it run right again. Kit contained everything in it to do the job even the gaskets. Once the vehicle was reprogrammed it ran good as new!
Kit had everything I needed to complete my AFM deletion. Not being a mechanic, I was unaware that I needed to tune my ECM afterwards due to the new non-afm cam shaft being installed which makes sense afterwards. Locally it cost an additional $300 due to buying license and an hour reprogramming the computer. When I had completed the mechanical side, I fired the engine and ran like a charm, but when I drove it, it had no power. I ended up having tuner turn off the AFM and tune to the new cam. Doing this brought life back into my truck. If you don’t have an issue and want to turn off the AFM just buy the plug in OBD-II connector, but if you have a collapsed lifter and want to delete the afm altogether then buy this kit with new cam and expect to need to tune your ECM. We ended up replacing the oil pump, cam sprocket, crank sprocket, timing chain, timing chain dampener, and oil pan gasket which weren’t included in kit (pick up tube seal was) but should be replaced since you are that deep into the engine removing the cam. We had to have the heads redone due to what we found while when tearing apart which was cylinder 6 valves not sealing (Cylinder 6 was the original issue). Kit includes valve stem seals. Highly recommended doing that as well since you already have it apart. The heads being rebuilt was an additional cost, locally it was 500 for both heads being rebuilt and compression tested. Altogether with additional parts, heads rebuilt, new fluids and tuned it was about $1600 and 30 hours worth of work, but again I would not say I am a mechanic but mechanically inclined. Local shop said they could do it for $2500, but didn’t include heads being rebuilt and extra parts. So I was looking at $3000 plus. I hope this helps someone else who is trying to decide which route to go and how much it will cost. The work was completed on a 2008 Chevy Suburban 5.3L
